The Los Angeles Broker Challenge, presented by the Los Angeles Commercial Realty Association (LACRA), is an all-day event that takes place at a private beach club in Santa Monica. The day is filled with a series of sports competitions and an evening cocktail and dinner reception under the stars. An opportunity drawing featuring a fabulous grand prize is offered to event supporters. Broker Challenge provides an opportunity for Los Angeles commercial real estate professionals to share a day of friendly competition while raising funds to benefit the programs of Family Service of Santa Monica.

As a community-based, Joint Commission accredited agency, Family Service of Santa Monica provides a broad range of programs and services to more than 1,200 children, adolescents, adults and families annually. Our programs are founded on principles of prevention and early intervention by providing services that reduce parental and familial stress. We know from our experience that the most effective services are those that are provided early, are comprehensive, intensive, and shaped to fit the needs of each individual family.

2018 Team Criteria

“NO RINGER RULE”. Teams must be comprised of verifiable commercial real estate industry employees. Any team that uses a non-employee as a team player will forfeit its points for that event. Teams should be comprised primarily of its own employees however, the addition of “Qualified Supplemental Players” is allowed. A Qualified Supplemental Player is defined as an individual who is a verifiably current commercial real estate employee and whose company of employment does not already have a team in the Event. Companies with fewer employees may “team up” with another company and join forces to create a team. Team player lists must be submitted no less than 5 days prior to the event.

  • Athletic events include Paddle Tennis doubles, six-man sand court Volleyball, Basketball Shoot- Out, Poker Tournament, Ping Pong Tournament, Closest-to-the-Pin Golf, Special Event Relay and Football Toss. Events may be subject to change.
  • All Teams consist of a minimum of six players, with at least one woman on each team.
  • Entry fee for a six-player team is $1,800. Each team player package includes a continental breakfast, lunch, beer & soda throughout the day, a coveted player gift bag, and evening dinner reception. Entry fee for additional team players is $250.00.
  • Team reservations can be made by credit card for confirmation purposes, to be followed by a company check. (Team entries will be limited to the first sixteen paid respondents.) Once 16 teams have confirmed participation, and we have not yet received a check from your company, your credit card will be charged the minimum fee of $1,800 for a six-player team. An invoice will follow for any additional charges.
  • No cell phone usage is allowed on the Club premises. All Beach Club by-laws will be strictly observed.

You must list a designated team captain or contact person, and that person’s e-mail address for future correspondence. Also include a list of anticipated team players; substitutions and additions can be made no later than 5 days prior to the event.

TEAM NAMES WILL BE LISTED IN ALL EVENT BLASTS AND THE EVENT WEBSITE


The Event

The day begins with a series of sports competitions, and ends with an evening cocktail party reception under the stars. Sixteen teams compete in a minimum of seven events throughout the day. A team competition prize is awarded to the champions of the day long events and the evening closes with a drawing for an amazing grand prize. The evening activities include a cocktail and dinner reception that provides networking opportunities for the real-estate community.

Broker Challenge is supported by event sponsors, team participants, and donations from local merchants and restaurateurs.

The Broker Challenge provides an opportunity for Los Angeles commercial real estate professionals to share a day of friendly competition while raising funds to support the programs of Family Service of Santa Monica.
